Russo, City Manager
FROM: Susan Simpson, Cultural and Community Services Director
DATE: 6/20/2013
RE: Acceptance of Tree Donation from Doubletree by Hilton
Ocean Point Resort & Spa
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to
accept the donation of two trees from Doubletree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort
and Spa.
REASONS:
Doubletree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort & Spa is proud of the progress the City
has made and appreciates the high quality of life it provides to both residents and
visitors and wished to give back to the community that creates enjoyable
experiences for their guests. Management suggested to donate two trees to the
City to be planted at Town Center Park. These two trees will replace two trees
that did not survive the transplant from Samson Oceanfront Park.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Two Coccoloba Diversifolia, also known as Pigeon Plum trees, were selected to
plant along the north side of the park to enhance the landscape buffer between
the park and the adjacent condominium. The two trees are valued at $300 total
including installation. The continued maintenance of these trees will be the
responsibility of the City. This ongoing maintenance expense was already
budgeted for as these trees are replacement of trees already in the City's
inventory.
Agenda Item No.IOC
Date 6/20/2013
91
