RESOLUTION NO. 2013- 2 10 3 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF <br /> POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME <br /> CONTROL ACT OF 1984, TO EXPEND UP TO FOUR HUNDRED <br /> FORTY-THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE <br /> DOLLARS ($443,125.00) FROM THE FEDERAL FORFEITURE (DOJ) <br /> FUNDS TO PURCHASE A CITYWIDE CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION <br /> (CCTV) SYSTEM FOR ALL CITY PARKS AND GOVERNMENT <br /> BUILDINGS, HIRE A PROFESSIONAL SECURITY CONSULTANT TO <br /> ASSIST WITH THE CCTV PROJECT, PURCHASE FOUR (4) <br /> MICROSOFT TABLETS, AND RATIFY THE PURCHASE OF A NEW <br /> CANINE(K9)POLICE DOG; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br /> and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br /> of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br /> enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br /> request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality,federally forfeited funds may <br /> be expended if accompanied by written certification by the Chief of Police that the request complies <br /> with the provisions of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to Four <br /> Hundred Forty-Three Thousand One Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars ($443,125.00) in federally <br /> forfeited funds in compliance with the aforementioned. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br /> the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to Four Hundred Forty-Three Thousand One <br /> Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars ($443,125.00) from the established Department of Justice (DOJ) <br /> federal forfeitures account for the purchase of a Citywide Closed Circuit Television(CCTV)System <br /> for all City parks and government buildings,to hire a Professional Security Consultant to assist with <br /> the CCTV Project,to purchase four(4)Microsoft Tablets,and to ratify the purchase of a new canine <br /> (K9) Police Dog. <br /> Section 2. Effective Date.
