Russo, City Manager
FROM: Jane A. Hines, MMC, City Clerk
DATE: 9/19/2013
RE: Authorizing an Increase with the Miami Herald Publishing
Company for Retail Advertising Services
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing an increase for retail advertising services with The Miami Herald
Publishing Company.
REASONS:
The City has been under contract with the Miami Herald Publishing Company for
several years as there are legal obligations that require us to use The Miami
Herald or Neighbors section for legal public noticing. On October 20, 2011 via
Resolution No. 2011-1790, the City Commission entered into a retail, annual
volume contract rate to advertise in the Miami Herald with option for second year,
in an amount not to exceed $30,000.00. Due to an increase in demand of
advertising service, on July 19, 2012 via Resolution No. 2012-1946, the City
Commission approved an additional $11,000.00 bringing the total amount to
$41,000.00.
Due to additional advertising requirements for the City's Special Election on
Charter Amendments held on June 4, 2013, an additional $25,000.00 is needed
for the Miami Herald bringing the total amount not to exceed to $66,000.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Agenda Item No.IOV
Date 9/19/2013
248
