Russo, City Manager <br /> DATE: 10/17/2013 <br /> RE: Support for Parade for 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> This Resolution is presented for your consideration. <br /> • REASONS: <br /> The Miami-Dade County Military Affairs Board is sponsoring a parade, scheduled <br /> for November 8, 2013, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, <br /> and welcoming home and remembering our Vietnam veterans. The City has <br /> been asked to support the November 8, 2013 parade sponsored by the Military <br /> Affairs Board. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War is a 13-year <br /> program to honor and thank the generation of proud Americans who served our <br /> country during one of the most challenging missions ever faced by our nation. <br /> The Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War is a tribute to <br /> the valor of more than 3 million servicemen and women who left their families to <br /> serve bravely and through more than a decade of combat, over air, land, and <br /> sea, these proud Americans upheld the highest traditions of our Armed Forces. <br /> As a grateful Nation, we honor more than 58,000 patriots who sacrificed their <br /> lives during the Vietnam War and remember those who were wounded and still <br /> carry the scars of war. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> • • Resolution <br /> Agenda Item No 10B <br /> Date 10/17/2013 <br /> 162 <br />
