<br />© Copyright – Safety Point, Corp. – Materials developed for TGSV Enterprises, Inc. <br />Vehicle and Equipment Safety <br /> <br /> Autos, Vans, and Trucks: Used for company purposes only, unless permission from management is granted <br />beforehand. <br /> <br /> Assigned Vehicles: A vehicle assigned to an employee will be used by that employee only, unless notified by <br />management. No other drivers are allowed to drive company vehicles. Use by employee’s family members <br />of any age is strictly prohibited. <br /> <br /> Special Vehicles: Passengers or extra riders on construction or specialized equipment, i.e.forklifts, material <br />hoists, backhoes, and tractors, is prohibited. <br /> <br /> Riders: There are to be no other riders in company vehicles other than company personnel. Management <br />must approve exceptions. Riding as a passenger on equipment is prohibited unless the equipment has the <br />capacity to transport personnel safely (I.e. jump seats, operator chairs, and seats). <br /> <br /> Vehicle Security: All company vehicles must maintain in company premises at the end of the workday. <br />Losses sustained for ignoring this policy will be assigned employee's responsibility. Vehicle Violations: Moving <br />and parking violations are the operator's responsibility. <br /> <br /> Safety Belts: State statutes require one to wear seat belts when operating a motor vehicle. It is mandatory <br />that all employees wear seat belts while driving or riding in a company vehicle. Seats on special equipment (all <br />equipment with a “Roll-Over Protective Structure” - ROPS CAB) will have a seat belt. All operators of this <br />equipment will be required to wear their seat belts when the machine in motion. <br /> <br /> Passenger Safety: The assigned operator of the vehicle is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle, <br />including the security and conduct of all passengers. No one is permitted to ride standing in a truck. Riders <br />sitting on the outside of a truck bed, or on the tailgate, are prohibited. (Getting on or off a vehicle while it is <br />in motion is strictly prohibited.) <br /> <br /> Accidents in Company Vehicles: <br /> <br />- Report all accidents, no matter how small, to management immediately. <br /> <br />- Always call law enforcement officials to report an accident, no matter how minor the damage. <br /> <br />- Do not make statements to anyone other than law enforcement officials. <br /> <br />- Any accident involving a pedestrian must be reported to management and law enforcement <br />immediately. <br /> <br />Fire Safety and Prevention <br /> <br />The most destructive and often the most preventable accident that occurs in the workplace is a fire. Every year, fires <br />and explosions cause millions of dollars in personal and property damage, due to careless operations and employees <br />who did not follow safety guidelines, or know their company emergency policy. Those that survived most likely do not <br />work there any more. <br /> <br />Types of Fire Extinguishers: <br /> <br />Type A: Used for combustible solids (articles that will bum), such as paper, wood, and cloth. The symbol for a type A <br />extinguisher is a green triangle with the letter A in the center. <br /> <br />Type B: Used for combustible liquids, such as oil, gas, and solvents. The symbol for a type B extinguishe r is a red <br />square with the letter B in the center. <br /> <br />Type C: Used for electrical fires such as those that occur in motors, fuse boxes, welding machines, and transformers. <br />The symbol for a type C extinguisher is a blue circle with the letter C in the center . <br /> <br />
