Russo, City Manager <br /> FROM: Derrick L.Arias, Chief Information Officer <br /> DATE: 3/21/2019 <br /> RE: Donation of Surplus Computer Equipment <br /> •RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Commission approve this Resolution <br /> authorizing the City manager to donate the surplus computer equipment <br /> described below to the Miami-Dade. County Public Schools and South <br /> Florida Digital Alliance. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The City is in possession of surplus computers and equipment which is <br /> no longerviable for business use in the City. <br /> The South Florida Digital Alliance was incorporated as a non-profit <br /> entity in May of 2009 under the name Miami-Dade Broadband <br /> Coalition. The organization's founding was made possible by a <br /> generous grant provided y the John S. and James L. Knight <br /> Foundation in support of connecting organizations to the Internet and <br /> each other to provide opportunities for all segments of our community <br /> and thereby enhance the quality of life for South Florida residents to <br /> enhance the quality of their lives. The founding organizations of the <br /> Coalition/Alliance represent the anchor institutions of our community: <br /> education, government, healthcare and non-profit organizations. <br /> The City will donate to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools any <br /> equipment that the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8 will <br /> acce and all remaining items will be donated to the South Florida <br /> 94 <br />
