Russo, City Manager <br />Bill Evans, Assistant City Manager <br />3/20/2014 <br />RE: Resolution Ratifying a Payment to Beiswenger, Hoch and <br />Associates, Inc. to Provide Post Design Services for the Sunny <br />Isles Beach /Newport Fishing Pier <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff is recommending the City Commission approve the attached Resolution. <br />REASONS: <br />BH &A was responsible for certain design elements related to the replacement of <br />the Newport Fishing Pier and was the Engineer of Record (EOR) for the project. <br />However, their contract with the City did not include post design services for <br />project certification as required by Florida Building Code (FBC). Specifically, FBC <br />requires that the FOR review technical documentation, perform field reviews and <br />inspections, and prepare various affidavits and certifications that the project is in <br />substantial compliance with design and meets relevant provisions of FBC in <br />order to obtain a Temporary or Permanent Certificate of Occupancy. BH &A <br />performed this work to facilitate the opening of the pier for public use and <br />enjoyment. <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br />The total cost for the additional services was $9,500.00. <br />FUNDING SOURCE: <br />Agenda Item No. 10B <br />Date 3/20/'10 14 <br />111 <br />
