F • F l O P ''
O
TO:
VIA:
FROM:
DATE:
RE:
City of Sunny Isles Beach
18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160
(305) 947 -0606 City Hall
(305) 949 -3113 Fax
MEMORANDUM
The Honorable Mayor and City Commission
Christopher J. Russo, City Manager
Jane A. Hines, MMC, City Clerk
3/20/2014
Authorizing an Increase with the Miami Herald Publishing
Company for Retail Advertising Services
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing an increase for retail advertising services with The Miami Herald
Publishing Company.
REASONS:
The City has been under contract with the Miami Herald Publishing Company for
several years as there are legal obligations that require us to use The Miami
Herald or Neighbors section for legal public noticing. On October 17, 2013 via
Resolution No. 2013 -2140, the City Commission approved an agreement with
The Miami Herald to allow the City to achieve a rate discount, with option for a
second year, in an amount not to exceed $24,000.00.
Due to an increase in demand of advertising services needed to legally comply
with statutory obligations to inform our residents and property owners of City
Commission public hearings, Planning and Zoning, Capital Projects, Human
Resources, and other related matters regarding the City, an additional
$20,000.00 is needed for the Miami Herald bringing the total amount not to
exceed to $44,000.00.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Agenda Item No 10D
Date 3/20/2014
138
