RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - Z� <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A <br /> MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY <br /> OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND THE AMERICAN FLOOD <br /> COALITION FOR A FLOOD ADAPTATION ASSESSMENT <br /> PILOT PROJECT, ATTACHED HERETO, IN SUBSTANTIALLY <br /> THE SAME FORM, AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID MEMORANDUM OF <br /> UNDERSTANDING PROVIDED IT IS FIRST REVIEWED AS TO <br /> FORM AS LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the American Flood Coalition ("Coalition") is a nonpartisangroup of <br /> political, military, business, and local leaders that have come together to drive adaptation to the <br /> - reality of higher seas, stronger storms, and more frequent flooding; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Coalition is comprised of 56 city and county members who were all <br /> invited to submit an application for a Flood Adaptation Assessment pilot project ("Assessment"), <br /> which will identify flood risks and vulnerabilities, measure exposure to various types of flooding <br /> over time, and stress-test multiple flood mitigation strategies; and <br /> WHEREAS, on May 7, 2019, the City submitted an application in response to the <br /> Coalition's call for submittals for the Assessment; and <br /> WHEREAS, on June 7, 2019, the City, along with the Town of Surfside, was awarded <br /> the Assessment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve a Memorandum of Understanding <br /> with the American Flood Coalition for a Flood Adaptation Assessment pilot project at no cost to <br /> the City, attached hereto, in substantially the same form, as Exhibit "A". <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Approval of Memorandum of Understanding. The City Commission hereby <br /> approves a Memorandum of Understanding with the American Flood Coalition for a Flood <br /> Adaptation Assessment pilot project at no cost to the City, attached hereto, in substantially the <br /> same form, as Exhibit"A". <br /> Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to <br /> execute said Memorandum of Understanding and to do all things necessary to effectuate this <br /> Resolution. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date.
