Matos,Assistant to the City Manager <br /> DATE: 7/18/2019 <br /> Approval of Memorandum of Understanding with <br /> RE: American Flood Coalition for Flood Adaptation <br /> Assessment <br /> ORECOMMENDATION: <br /> Attached for review and approval is a Memorandum of Understanding <br /> with the American Flood Coalition (the Coalition)fora Flood Adaptation <br /> Assessment pilot project at no cost to the City. <br /> REASONS: • <br /> On May 7, 2019, the City submitted an application in response to the <br /> Coalition's call for submittals for a "No-Cost Flood Adaptation <br /> Assessment." On May 16, 2019, the Mayor and City Staff participated <br /> in a conference call with staff from the Coalition to discuss the <br /> submitted application, and on June 7, 2019 the City was notified of <br /> receipt of award, along with the Town of Surfside, for a cooperative, <br /> micro-regional Flood Adaptation Assessment pilot project using the <br /> City Simulator Tool developed by Atkins Global. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> The Coalition is a "nonpartisan group of political,,military, business and <br /> local leaders that have come together to drive adaptation to the reality <br /> of higher seas, stronger storms, and more frequent ent flooding." <br /> The <br /> Coalition is comprised of 56 city and county members who were all <br /> so' invited to submit an application for this assessment, which will identify <br /> 226 <br />
