RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - 1 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF <br /> POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME <br /> CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO EXPEND PARTIAL FORFEITURE FUNDS <br /> FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ) FOR ELECTRICAL <br /> WORK AT TWO (2) AUTOMATIC LICENSE PLATE READER <br /> LOCATIONS AND REMODELING OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> SUPPLIES,FOR HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS IN AN <br /> AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVENTY THOUSAND NINETY-TWO <br /> DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-FOUR CENTS($70,092.74);PROVIDING FOR <br /> AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br /> and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br /> of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br /> enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS,in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida <br /> Statutes §932.7055(5)(b) upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a <br /> municipality,liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification that <br /> the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for electrical work at two (2) <br /> automatic license plate reader locations and remodeling of the Police Department kitchen for <br /> hurricane preparedness supplies, in an amount not to exceed Seventy Thousand Ninety-Two Dollars <br /> and Seventy-Four Cents ($70,092.74) in forfeiture (DOJ) funds in compliance with the <br /> aforementioned legal requirements. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br /> the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to Seventy Thousand Ninety-Two Dollars and <br /> Seventy-Four Cents ($70,092.74) from the established Department of Justice (DOJ) federal <br /> forfeitures account for electrical work at two (2) automatic license plate reader locations and <br /> remodeling of the Police Department kitchen for hurricane preparedness supplies. <br /> Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19' day of Sep -tuber '019. <br /> Geor H.
