• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 3-1 i <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, <br /> APPROVING APPOINTMENTS TO THE HISTORIC <br /> PRESERVATION BOARD FOR CALENDAR YEARS 2020 <br /> AND 2021; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission created the Historic Preservation Board through <br /> Ordinance No. 2004-197 adopted on April 15, 2004, providing for standards and review for the <br /> preservation of historical properties within the City, and through Ordinance No. 2004-214 <br /> adopted on September 22, 2004 adding two additional members to the Board; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board provides recommendations to the City Commission regarding the <br /> designation of historic properties within the boundaries of the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board members are appointed for a two-year term; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson and one additional member, the <br /> Vice-Mayor shall appoint two (2) members, and the Commission shall appoint one member each <br /> for a total of seven(7) members; and <br /> WHEREAS, Board members shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure that govern <br /> the City Commission, the Florida Sunshine and Public Records Laws, and the terms of this <br /> Resolution. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION <br /> OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing recital paragraphs are hereby ratified <br /> and confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made part of this Resolution. <br /> Section 2. Appointment of Board Members. The Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson and <br /> one additional member, the Vice-Mayor shall appoint two (2) members, and the Commission <br /> shall appoint one (1) member each for a total of seven committee members (7). Additionally: <br /> (a)No person shall serve as Chairperson of more than two (2) Boards/Committees. <br /> (b)No person shall serve on more than two (2) Boards/Committees. <br /> (c) Should any appointee resign during the term of the Board, the Commission, by <br /> majority vote, shall select another appointee to fill that vacancy. <br /> (d) Members shall be appointed to serve for a two-year term, but that term may be <br /> renewed as often as desirable. <br /> (e) Attendance Policy: The City's attendance policy for members of boards and <br /> committees provide that, if a member fails to attend three (3) duly noticed <br /> R2020 Historic Preservation Board Appointments 20-21 <br /> PP Page 1 of 3 <br />
