WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach supports a two-state solution wherein Israelis <br /> and Palestinians live side-by-side peacefully; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to denounce the BDS Movement as <br /> an anti-Semitic attempt to delegitimize Israel. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing recital paragraphs are hereby ratified and <br /> confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made part of this Resolution. <br /> Section 2. Denouncing BDS Movement. The Mayor and City Commission hereby oppose and <br /> denounce the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement targeting Israel, including efforts to <br /> target United States companies that are engaged in commercial activities that are legal under <br /> United States law, and all efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel. <br /> Section 3. Affirming First Amendment Rights. The Mayor and City Commission hereby <br /> affirm the Constitutional right of United States citizens to free speech,including the right to protest <br /> or criticize the policies of the United States or foreign governments. <br /> Section 4.
