Snyder, Chief of Police <br /> DATE: 1/16/2020 <br /> Approval to expend partial forfeiture funds on deposit <br /> RE: from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Local Law <br /> Enforcement Trust Fund (LLETF)in amount not to <br /> exceed $62,000.00. <br /> C <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Commission approve the expenditure <br /> of partial Forfeiture Funds (DOJ/LLETF) previously awarded to the <br /> Police Department as the result of investigative participation in <br /> forfeiture and seizure cases. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The use of these funds will allow us to fund the startup costs <br /> associated with the pursuit of Law Enforcement Accreditation and <br /> support law enforcement charities and activities. These funds are <br /> permissible by law to be spent for the support of law enforcement <br /> operations to include agency accreditation and other law enforcement <br /> charities / activities. It is requested that we be permitted to utilize up to <br /> $62,000.00 of said funds on deposit for such purpose. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> One of the benefits of participating in and providing personnel into high <br /> intensity narcotics investigations is the sharing of confiscated proceeds <br /> for the enhancement of law enforcement.
