{ RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - '1630 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2019-2990 RELATING TO THE APPOINTMENT OF VOTING COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO THE CITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR ANNUAL REPORTING; PROVIDING FOR RULES OF PROCEDURE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2008-1354 created the City Advisory Committee (the "Committee") to advise the City Commission on matters of import within the City; and WHEREAS, in an effort to increase public involvement in the Committee, the City Commission solicited City residents to apply for membership on the Committee; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2019-2990 recreated the Committee and provided that appointments to the Committee were to be made from a list of thirty-four (34) applicants; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to extend the pool of applicants eligible for membership appointments beyond the original thirty-four(34) applicants; and WHEREAS,in accordance with Section 74-8 of the City's Code of Ordinances the Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson and one additional member, the Vice-Mayor shall appoint two (2) members, and the Commission shall appoint one member each for a total of seven (7) members; and WHEREAS,Board members shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure that govern the City Commission,the Florida Sunshine and Public Records Laws,and the terms of this Resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing recital paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made part of this Resolution. Section 2. Appointment of Committee Members. The Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson and one additional member to the Committee, the Vice Mayor shall appoint two (2) members to the Committee, and each Commissioner shall appoint one (1) member to the Committee. Additionally: (a) Should any appointee resign during his or her term, the appointing Commissioner may select another appointee. (b) Members shall be appointed to serve a one-year term, but the term may be renewed as often as desirable, provided however, if the appointing Commissioner is not re-elected or that Commissioner resigns,the newly seated Commissioner has the option to discharge the appointee and select a new appointee or return the prior appointee for the remainder of the term.
