• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2020- 30 CA <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO SIGN OR RENEW ALL REQUIRED CONTRACTS, <br /> AGREEMENTS, AND PURCHASE ORDERS THAT AFFECT THE <br /> HEALTH, SAFETY, OR WELFARE OF THE CITY, AND TO TAKE <br /> SUCH FURTHER ACTION AS NECESSARY TO ENSURE THE <br /> CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE CITY, DURING THE STATE OF <br /> LOCAL EMERGENCY DECLARED ON MARCH 12, 2020 BY THE <br /> CITY MANAGER, SUBJECT TO AFTER-THE-FACT <br /> RATIFICATION AT THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED CITY <br /> COMMISSION MEETING; REQUIRING LEGAL REVIEW BY THE <br /> CITY ATTORNEY FOR SAID CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS; <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, on March 9th, 2020, the Florida State Governor Ron DeSantis has declared <br /> a State of Emergency due to COVID-19, commonly known as "Coronavirus"; and <br /> WHEREAS, on March 12, 2020, the City Manager declared a State of Local Emergency <br /> due to COVID-19; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to assign certain powers to the City Manager <br /> to enable him to sign all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that affect the <br /> health, safety, or welfare of the City, during the time period between March 12, 2020 and the <br /> next regularly scheduled City Commission meeting, and requiring legal review by the City <br /> Attorney for said contracts and agreements prior to execution by the City Manager; and <br /> • WHEREAS, the City Manager will j report back to the City Commission at the next <br /> regularly scheduled City Commission meeting seeking after-the-fact ratification of any actions <br /> relating to the foretasted authorization. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA,THAT: <br /> Section 1. Authority of City Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager is hereby <br /> authorized to sign or renew all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that affect the <br /> health, safety, or welfare of the City, and to take such further action as necessary to ensure the <br /> continued operation of the city during the declared State of Local Emergency, subject to after- <br /> the-fact 'ratification at the next regularly scheduled City Commission meeting, and requiring <br /> legal review by the City Attorney for said contracts and agreements prior to execution by the <br /> City Manager. 1 <br /> Section 2.
