RESOLUTION NO. 2020 -5o 6 ' <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br /> ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN <br /> ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT <br /> OF 1984 TO EXPEND PARTIAL FORFEITURE FUNDS FROM THE <br /> DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE(DOJ)FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SIX(6) <br /> LICENSE PLATE READER SYSTEM CAMERAS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT <br /> TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED TWNETY-SIX THOUSAND THREE <br /> HUNDRED NINE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-EIGHT CENTS($126,309.78); <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br /> and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br /> of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br /> enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida <br /> Statutes §932.7055(5)(b) upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a <br /> municipality,liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification that <br /> the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the installation of six(6)license <br /> plate reader system cameras,in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty-Six Thousand Three <br /> Hundred Nine Dollars and Seventy-Eight Cents ($126,309.78) in forfeiture (DOJ) funds in <br /> compliance with the aforementioned legal requirements. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached <br /> certification, the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to One Hundred Twenty-Six <br /> Thousand Three Hundred Nine Dollars and Seventy-Eight Cents($126,309.78)from the established <br /> Department of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeitures account for the installation of six(6) license plate <br /> reader system cameras. <br /> Section 2.
