RESOLUTION NO. 2020 -.-C) <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br /> ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO SECTION 5.1 OF THE <br /> MUNICIPAL CHARTER, CALLING FOR A GENERAL ELECTION TO BE <br /> HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020, FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br /> SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br /> BEACH THE NAMES OF ALL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR <br /> ELECTION TO THE POSITIONS OF CITY COMMISSIONER SEAT 01 <br /> (NORTHERN AREA), AND CITY COMMISSIONER SEAT 03 (SOUTHERN <br /> AREA); PROVIDING FOR A RUN-OFF ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, TO <br /> BE HELD ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2020; DESIGNATING ONE <br /> REGISTERED VOTER WHO SHALL SERVE WITH THE CITY MANAGER <br /> AND THE CITY CLERK AS THE CANVASSING BOARD FOR SAID RUN- <br /> OFF ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR CONDUCTING THE ELECTIONS, <br /> POLLING PLACES, FORM OF BALLOT, VOTER REGISTRATION, <br /> NOTICE OF ELECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 5.1 of the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, <br /> provides that a general election shall be held in even-numbered years in November, a run-off <br /> election, if necessary, shall be held in December, and in conjunction with elections held by <br /> Miami-Dade County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and her staff of officials <br /> shall serve as Canvassing Board for the November 3, 2020 General Election; and <br /> WHEREAS, if a Run-Off Election is needed on December 1, 2020, the City <br /> Commission designates a registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk <br /> as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Run-Off Election. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF <br /> THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Calling a General Election. In accordance with the Municipal Charter of the <br /> City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and the general laws of the State of Florida, a General <br /> Election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, <br /> from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for the purpose of submitting to <br /> the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the positions of City <br /> Commissioner Seat 01 (Northern Area), and City Commissioner Seat 03 (Southern Area). <br /> Section 2. Designation of One Registered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing Board. The <br /> City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby designates Gloria Taft, as the <br /> registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City of Sunny Isles <br /> Beach's Canvassing Board for the Run-Off Election, if needed, on December 1, 2020. <br /> Section 3. Conducting the Elections. The City Clerk is authorized to utilize the services <br /> of the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and her staff of officials in the conduct of <br /> said General Election.
