JOHN C. WALTON, PE
Project Engineer – Geotechnical and Materials Testing
Services

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Walton possesses 20 years of progressive geotechnical
engineering experience on numerous projects throughout the East
Coast. These projects have included the execution of multi-phase
subsurface investigations and laboratory testing programs for a variety
of project types including low and mid-rise building structures, heavy
industrial facilities, highway projects, retail, residential, telecom,
marine, and academic facilities.

Mr. Walton’s experience has included interpretation of subsurface
exploration, geophysical, and geologic data; development of
subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs; as well as
identification and classification of subsurface materials. Engineering
and management skills have included analysis and design of shallow
and deep foundation systems; directing and administering field testing,
remediation and exploration programs; administering geophysical
surveys; developing and administering geotechnical instrumentation
programs; analysis of slope stabilization and soil retention structures;
evaluating and administering remedial and preventative measures for
karst geology; and the development and review of geotechnical
engineering reports, correspondence, and specifications.

PROJECTS

Costco Wholesale
FL, DE, CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA
Performed and managed geotechnical exploration programs for
undeveloped sites, redevelopment sites, and expansion projects,
spanning various distinct geologic regions. Engineering services
included shallow and deep foundation system design, as well as
ground improvement systems, such as rammed aggregate piers,
surcharge programs, and compaction grouting. Also provided
engineering consultation and management of materials testing
services throughout construction.

Droney Road (T-329) Bridge Replacement
Lafayette Twp., McKean County, PA
As geotechnical engineer for this project, Mr. Walton was responsible
for performing a site reconnaissance, developing a test boring
program, and preparing a geologic assessment report based on review
of published geologic data. Additional duties included management of
the test boring program, including direction of drilling operations and
quality assurance inspections, and formulating a laboratory testing
program. He evaluated foundation alternatives for the new bridge and
performed LRFD analyses for the foundations, performed analyses on
embankment slopes for global stability, provided recommendations for
erosion control measures, and performed pavement design analysis
utilizing DARWin software.
