(BE) is a local full-service surveying <br />and civil engineering firm with offices in both Miami-Dade and Palm Beach <br />County, Florida. Since its founding. BE has been recognized for being an <br />influential part of the growth of Miami and the South Florida region. <br />Biscayne’s land surveying and civil engineering professionals have <br />become some of the most respected in South Florida and their <br />commitment to the progress of the community and company have <br />withstood throughout the years making the company who it is today. <br /> <br />BE is certified as a Community Business Enterprise (CBE & SBE) by the <br />Miami-Dade County Internal Services Department Small Business <br />Development and Small Business Enterprise by Palm Beach County, <br />School District of Palm Beach, School Board of Broward County, Broward <br />College, The City of West Palm Beach, Florida Department of <br />Transportation and South Florida Water Management District. <br /> <br />BE was founded by J.S. Frederick in 1898 and was officially incorporated in <br />1914 with W.E. Brown as its first President, John A. Moore as Vice <br />President and Earl E. Harvey as Secretary Treasurer. A year prior to its <br />incorporation, the company hired a rodman by the name of John J. <br />Bennett; who would eventually work his way up the ladder to become <br />Biscayne’s majority stockholder and President (from 1952 to 1973). It was <br />through Mr. Bennett’s passion, exemplary work ethic and dedication that <br />BE was recognized for its early achievements. Under past leadership, the <br />company’s most notable work included the layout of the City of Miami <br />streets and their extension throughout Miami-Dade County, the U.S. Post <br />Office Building (downtown Miami), the Federal Courthouse, the <br />development of Villa Vizcaya, the development of other Deering family <br />and Brickell family properties; such as Star Island, Fisher Island, and Bayside <br />Market place, layout of the University of Miami’s Coral Gables Campus, <br />A1A in the City of Hollywood, and survey of the Tamiami Canal in 1911. <br />Some of its more prominent clients have included: business entrepreneur, <br />Howard Hughes, former President Richard M. Nixon, Senator Claude <br />Pepper, Congressman Dante Fascell, and the Burdines family. Our early <br />achievements have been recognized by the community on various <br />occasions. <br />19
