RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - -6(7'S <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE PUBLIC ART PROGRAM AND <br />STRATEGIC PLAN, AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PUBLIC ARTS <br />ADVISORY COMMITTEE, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY <br />TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on October 19, 2017 via Resolution No. 2017-2750, the City Commission <br />created the Public Arts Advisory Committee ("PAAC") tasked with advising the Commission on <br />matters of Public Art based on guidelines codified in Chapter 104 - Works of Art in Public Places, <br />of the Code of Ordinance of the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City"); and <br />WHEREAS, on July 20, 2020, the PAAC approved for recommendation to this Commission <br />the Public Art Program ("Art Program"); and <br />WHEREAS, the Art Program documents a defined vision and criteria used in the selection <br />of public art, whether it be via commissioning, acquisition, donation, or deaccessioning; and <br />WHEREAS, the Art Program also includes an overall Strategic Plan designed to be a road <br />map for the City for years to come; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission now wishes to accept the recommendation of the PAAC <br />and adopt the Art Program detailing the process and procedure used in the selection of public art and <br />the Strategic Plan for the implementation of public art in the City, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Adopting of Art in Public Places Program. The City Commission hereby adopts the <br />Public Art Program, inclusive of the Strategic Plan contained therein, as recommended by the Public <br />Arts Advisory Committee, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
