D-27
RFQ 20-10-01 Professional Engineering and Architectural Services for Pedestrian Bridge with Park Elements Across A1A at 174th St. CCNA D
For bridge decks, two options will be evaluated: cast-in-place decks and precast decks. Cast-in-place decks can be provided utilizing
the stay-in-place forms. Precast decks will eliminate the need for the stay-in-place forms and require less construction time for the
deck. Both options will be evaluated in the Alternate Study Phase (30%) of the final design.
For Bridge Foundation, as described in the Geotechnical/Foundation Section of this proposal, drilled shafts or auger cast piles are
recommended. Both the pier and elevator structures are located in the sidewalk areas. There is sufficient space at both ends of the
bridge to set up a work zone to place and operate the drilling equipment for foundation construction. Pedestrian traffic will be properly
and safely maintained outside the work zones. After the foundation is complete, the drilling equipment will be removed, ready for
the pier and elevator tower construction - also within the work zones. As demonstrated in the Construction Sequence Section of this
proposal, the bridge and elevator towers will be constructed in sequence without any significant impact to the traffic or pedestrians.
BEAM DELIVERY
Concrete U-beams in full length (about 165 ft.) after manufacturing and curing in the casting yards, will be shipped through water on
a barge. The beams will be picked up at a location north of NW 183rd Street as shown below. The beams will be transported to the
proposed bridge location on a truck through 183rd Street and Collins Avenue.
Figure 11: Beam Delivery Route
