RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 3132 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT <br />OF 1984 TO EXPEND PARTIAL FORFEITURE FUNDS FROM THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ("DOJ") FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE <br />FOR AUTOMATIC LICENSE PLATE READER SYSTEM, REPLACEMENT <br />AND PURCHASE OF COMPONENTS RELATED TO THE CCTV <br />PROJECT, AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCTS RELATED TO <br />POLICE ENFORCEMENT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY- <br />SEVEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($27,400.00); <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City and <br />its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department of <br />Justice ("DOJ") federal forfeiture account; for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida <br />Statutes §932.7055(5)(b) upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a <br />municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification that <br />the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the subscription service for <br />automatic license plate reader system, replacement and purchase of components related to the CCTV <br />project, and other miscellaneous products related to police enforcement, in an amount not to exceed <br />Twenty -Seven Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($27,400.00) in forfeiture DOJ funds in compliance <br />with the aforementioned legal requirements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br />the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up Twenty -Seven Thousand Four Hundred Dollars <br />($27,400.00) from the established Department of Justice federal forfeitures account for the <br />subscription service for automatic license plate reader system, replacement and purchase of <br />components related to the CCTV project, and other miscellaneous products related to police <br />enforcement. <br />Section 2.
