RESOLUTION NO. 2021 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE "TERMINATION OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY" ISSUED ON MAY 26, 2021, DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on March 9, 2020, Florida State Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency for all of Florida due to the COVID-19 outbreak ("COVID-19"); and WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, Miami -Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez declared a State of Emergency for Miami -Dade County due to COVID-19; and WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization ("WHO") declared the COVID-19 outbreak ("COVID-19") a pandemic; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter 29 of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Code, the City Manager declared a local emergency due to COVID-19; and WHEREAS, the emergency dangers and threats of the COVID-19 pandemic have passed, and the City Manager of the City of Sunny Isles Beach has terminated the State of a Local Emergency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Confirmation of Termination of the State of Local Emergency. The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby ratifies the "Termination of a Local Emergency" issued by the City Manager on May 26, 2021, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", provided however this confirmation of termination shall not be construed as a limitation on the City Manager's authority to declare a state of emergency at any date subsequent to this resolution. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
