Russo, City Manager <br />FROM: 0,/Bill Evans, Assistant City Manager <br />DATE: May 15, 2014 <br />RE: Approve the Purchase of 21 Additional Posts for the Decorative Street <br />Signs <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Staff is recommending the City Commission approve the attached resolution. <br />REASONS: <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach in its effort to be rated a first class City, was in need of <br />new and improved signage for both pedestrians and motorist. Staff requested to award <br />the Bid Number 13 -10 -01 to GraphPlex Signs for 200 —4x4 custom street signs and poles <br />in an amount not to exceed Ninety -Four Thousand Dollars. ($94,000.00) <br />Upon further inspection, the City needed 21 additional poles ( "units "). The additional units <br />came to a total of Five - Thousand One Hundred Sixty Dollars. ($5,160.00) Thus making <br />the total amount not to exceed Ninety -Nine Thousand One Hundred Sixty Dollars <br />($99,160.00) <br />There was a lower bidder, however the lower bidder was disqualified due to the prepared <br />mock -up not being of sufficient quality. <br />Even with the additional 21 units, GraphPlex Signs cost is below the original base bid <br />amount. <br />Agenda Iie`�m <br />Date S-16-14 <br />
