<br /> <br />01510 - 3/4 <br />Comply with NFPA 10 and NFPA 241 for classification, extinguishing agent, and size <br />required by location and class of fire exposure. <br />H. Storage Facilities: Temporary storage facilities may be used to store products, <br />materials, equipment, tools and other items necessary for the execution of the work. <br />Trailers, shipping containers and similar are acceptable. The temporary storage <br />facilities shall be lockable; the visual appearance shall be acceptable to the City. <br />Acceptable visual appearance shall mean that the facility’s exterior is in good <br />condition, is of a neutral color and bears no graphics other than Contractor’s logo, <br />name and contact information. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 TEMPORARY UTILITIES: <br />A. General: <br />1. Engage the appropriate local utility company to extend temporary electric and <br />phone service to the Project area from nearby existing utilities. Where utility <br />company provides only part of the service, provide the remainder with <br />matching, compatible materials and equipment. Comply with utility company <br />recommendations. <br />2. Provide adequate utility capacity at each stage of construction. Prior to <br />availability of temporary utilities at the site, or in remote areas without services, <br />provide trucked-in services as required for start-up and construction <br />operations. <br />3. Furnish, install and maintain temporary utilities required for adequate <br />construction, safety and security. Modify, relocate and extend systems as <br />Work progresses. Repair damage caused by installation or use of temporary <br />facilities. Grade the areas of site affected by temporary installations to <br />required elevations and grades, and clean the area. Remove on completion of <br />Work or until service or facilities are no longer needed or are replaced by <br />authorized use of completed permanent facilities. <br />4. The types of temporary construction utilities and facilities required include, but <br />are not limited to, potable drinking water, wastewater, drainage, dewatering <br />equipment, enclosure of Work, ventilation, electrical power, lighting, hoisting <br />facilities, stairs, ladders, and roads. <br />5. Inspect and test each service before placing temporary utilities in use. Arrange <br />for required inspections and tests by governing authorities, and obtain required <br />certifications and permits for use. <br />6. Materials used for temporary service shall not be used in the permanent <br />system unless so specified or acceptable to City. <br /> <br />3.02 TEMPORARY SANITARY FACILITIES: <br />A. Contractor-Furnished Facilities: <br />1. Furnish, install and maintain temporary sanitary facilities for use through <br />construction period. Remove on completion of Work. <br />2. Provide for all construction workers under this Contract and representatives at <br />the site.
