Through Conservation Objective 2 and its implementing policies supports the protection of
surface and ground waters and, maintains required surface water quality standards and serve to
recharge the groundwater aquifer. Additionally, Intergovernmental Objectives 1 and 3 require
coordination with MDWASD, North Miami Beach and SFWMD.
The intent of the data and analysis section of the Work Plan is to describe the information that
local governments need to provide to state planning and regulatory agencies as part of their
proposed comprehensive plan amendments, particularly those that would change the Future
Land Use Map to increase density and/or intensity.
3.1 Sunny Isles Beach Population Information
Existing and future population data for the City of Sunny Isles Beach was derived from MDWASD
through the NMB Water (Table 1).
Table 1
Historical and Projected Population Projections
Year
2010
2015
2020
2025
2030
Population
'^I
22;899
25,80()
27,4199
29,600
19.509
21.104
22.698
24,293
25.887
Source: City of North Miami Beach 10 -year Water Supply Facilities Work Plan (Historical and Projected Population served) Sec. 3.3 p. 9
and MDWASD 2019
As discussed in the Overview section, these NMB Water's population projections differ from the
projections from t4e{BEBR}. This difference is due to different methodologies used to determine
the population projections, with the utility factoring the maximum density possible.
The City is mostly built out, the only new population will result from infill and redevelopment
efforts. As a result, the City does not believe the higher NMB Water projections will be attained.
However, since this Water Plan Update utilizes the water supply calculations made in accordance
with the utility's population projections, the Water Plan utilizes the higher NMB Water
projections. Regardless of this difference, the City of Sunny Isles Beach 10 -year Water Supply
Facilities Work Plan Update finds that there will be enough water supply to meet the current and
future needs of its residents.
NMB Water, as part of its analysis of water supply demand, adjusted BEBR population
projections, as shown in Table 1, in order to account for known and projected development
activities.
10
