RESOLUTION NO. 2014- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SIGN OR RENEW ALL <br />REQUIRED CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS, AND PURCHASE <br />ORDERS THAT AFFECT THE HEALTH, SAFETY, OR WELFARE <br />OF THE CITY, DURING THE SUMMER RECESS PERIOD FROM <br />THE LAST CITY COMMISSION MEETING IN JULY 2014 <br />THROUGH THE FIRST REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING IN <br />SEPTEMBER 2014, SUBJECT TO AFTER - THE -FACT <br />RATIFICATION AT THE SEPTEMBER 18, 2014 CITY COMMISSION <br />MEETING, AND REQUIRING LEGAL REVIEW BY THE CITY <br />ATTORNEY FOR SAID CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission is not scheduled to meet between <br />July 17, 2014 and the next regular meeting September 18, 2014; and <br />WHEREAS, there may be new or existing contracts that require approval during the time <br />period between the last City Commission meeting in July 2014 and the first regular meeting in <br />September 2014; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to assign certain powers to the City Manager <br />or his designee to enable them to sign all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders <br />that affect the health, safety, or welfare of the City, during the time period between the last City <br />Commission meeting in July 2014 and the first regular meeting in September 2014, and requiring <br />legal review by the City Attorney for said contracts and agreements; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager will report back to the City Commission at the first <br />regular City Commission meeting on September 18, 2014, seeking after - the -fact ratification of <br />any actions relating to the aforestated authorizations. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: <br />Section 1. Authority of City Manager or Designee. The City Manager or his designee is <br />hereby authorized to sign or renew all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that <br />affect the health, safety, or welfare of the City during the summer recess period, from the last <br />City Commission meeting in July 2014 through the first regular City Commission meeting in <br />September 2014, subject to after - the -fact ratification at the September 18, 2014 City Commission <br />meeting, and requiring legal review by the City Attorney for said contracts and agreements. <br />82014- 0 v \igr Authorization During Summer Recess Page 1 of 2 <br />
