November 29, 2021
City of Sunny Isles Beach
Attn.: Mauricio Betancur, CMC, City Clerk
18070 Collins Avenue, 4th Floor
Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160
RE: Response to RFQ No. 21-11-01
Professional Planning and Zoning Consulting Services, including Civil and Traffic Engineering
Dear Selection Committee,
Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA) is pleased to submit our response to the Request for
Qualifications released by the City for Professional Planning and Zoning Consulting Services, including
Civil and Traffic Engineering for the City of Sunny Isles Beach. CGA has carefully reviewed the criteria and
fully understands the effort required to provide the services referenced in the Request for Qualifications.
CGA has the knowledge, experience, capability, and personnel resources to service this contract.
CGA has had the pleasure of serving the City in capacities like those listed in this RFQ since 2017. Prior
to that, Alex David, AICP served as Planning and Zoning consultant to the City and performed planning
and zoning related tasks.
We are a multi-disciplinary firm with a presence in South Florida for more than 84 years. The company
provides a broad range of services, including Urban Planning and Zoning, Landscape Architecture and
Urbanism, Environmental and Sustainability Services, Community Engagement, Traffic Engineering
and Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering and Roadway Design and Review, Data & Technology
Services, Construction Engineering and Inspection, Surveying and Mapping, Grant Writing, and a variety
of government services, including plan review, building department and inspection services. The firm’s
diversification allows us to provide a soup-to-nuts approach to projects working as a one-source partner
for planning, design and construction engineering; or efficiently tackling individual projects with customized
solutions designed by handpicked teams of highly experienced professionals.
We are the consulting firm of choice for numerous municipalities in South Florida. Part of the reason is
that, with more than 390 employees, our firm provides the broad range of experience and wide-ranging
services typical of a large company, but with the personalized attention of a much smaller firm. In addition,
the CGA Team has consistently stood out among competitors for many reasons. There are, however, three
key qualities that differentiate our consulting practice which keep our clients coming back to us:
1. We have a well-earned reputation for being nimble, adaptable and highly responsive. Not only
are we known for being accessible and available to our clients, but we are quick to act on client
requests.
2. We are problem-solvers and out-of-the-box thinkers. CGA’s commitment to, and track record
of offering our clients “exceptional solutions” has allowed us to develop into a premier leader in
government services.
3. We bring a unique consultant perspective to our work for public sector clients, since many of our
employees previously served as building, planning and zoning officials, community development
and engineering directors, and even in areas of city administration.
(Cont.)
6
