RESOLUTION NO. 2022- <br />A <br />022 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION RUN-OFF WHICH WAS <br />HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2022, DECLARING JERRYJOSEPH TO BE ELECTED AS <br />COMMISSIONER FOR SEAT 1, AND FABIOLA STUYVESANT TO BE ELECTED AS <br />COMMISSIONER SEAT 3; DISCHARGING THE CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE SPECIAL <br />ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") held a Special Election on Tuesday, January <br />25th, 2022, and a subsequent run-off election on February 8th, 2022, to fill the vacancy of <br />Commissioner Seat 1 and Commissioner Seat 3; and <br />WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2021-3223A designated Gloria Taft to be the registered voter to <br />serve on the Canvassing Board, along with the City Manager and the City Clerk, whom served as <br />the Chairperson; and <br />WHEREAS, the Canvassing Board met on February 11th, 2022, and proceeded to publicly <br />canvass the votes cast for the candidates in the Run -Off Special Election, and certified the results; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Jerry Joseph and Fabiola Stuyvesant were sworn -in by the City Clerk on Friday, <br />February 11th, 2022, and formerly entered into the discharge of their duties. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Acceptance of Results of Special Election. The City Commission of the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach hereby accepts the results of the Run -Off Special Election held on February 8th <br />2022, as follows: <br />For Commissioner Seat 1, the whole number of votes cast was 1,562, of which number <br />Jerry Joseph received 870 votes or 55.7% of the votes <br />Johana Rabinovich received 692 votes or 44.3% of the votes <br />For Commissioner Seat 3, the whole number of votes cast was 1,536, of which number <br />Greg Capra received 762 votes or 49.61% of the votes <br />Fabiola Stuyvesant received 774 votes or 50.39% of the votes <br />Section 2. Discharge of the Canvassing Board. The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach hereby discharges Gloria Taft, Member; City Manager, Member; and City Clerk, Chairperson, <br />as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Special Election and its Run -Off Election. <br />Section 3.
