ORDINANCE NO. 2022--45 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 74-8 "STANDING COMMITTEES; CHAIRPERSONS" OF ARTICLE IV "COMMITTEES" OF CHAPTER 74 "RULES OF PROCEDURE" OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO REVISE THE MEETING SCHEDULE OF CITY COMMITTEES; PROVIDING FOR REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Section 74-8, of the Code of Ordinances ("Code") for the City provides that there may be such standing committees of the City Commission as the Mayor or City Commission deems necessary to conduct the business of the City appropriately and in accordance with the City Charter; and WHEREAS, Section 74-8 of the Code further sets forth procedures governing standing committees, including the selection of members, the application process, voting requirements, the role and authority of committee members, and meeting schedules; and WHEREAS, the current provisions of Section 74-8 of the Code only permits committees to meet every other month, and prohibits committees from meeting more than six times per year; and WHEREAS, the City Commission believes it is in the best interest of the City to allow committees to meet with more frequency than what the Code currently provides. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BYTHE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:' Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance upon adoption hereof. Section 2. Amending Chapter 74 of the Code of Ordinances. Chapter 74 of the City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Chapter 74. — RULES OF PROCEDURE ARTICLE IV — COMMITTEES 1 Additions to existing text are shown by underline, changes to existing text on second reading are shown by double underline, and deletions are shown as strikart.
