RESOLUTION NO. 2022- n ! <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A GRANT AWARD FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF <br />ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION'S OFFICE OF RESILIENCE AND COASTAL <br />PROTECTION FOR THE CENTRAL ISLAND AREA DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS <br />PROJECT, IN THE AMOUNT OF TWO MILLION DOLLARS ($2,000,000.00); <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT, <br />EXPEND GRANT FUNDS, AND DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE <br />TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION, PROVIDED SAID GRANT AGREEMENT IS APPROVED <br />AS TO FORM AND LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on August 23, 2021, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") submitted an <br />application to the Department of Environmental Protection's ("DEP") Office of Resilience and <br />Coastal Protection Resilient Florida Program ("Program") for grants funds to be used for the <br />Central Island Area Improvements Project ("Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, DEP has accepted the City's application and allocated $2,000,000.00 in matching <br />funds to be used toward the Project; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to accept the award of grant funds and authorizes <br />the City Manager to enter into a Grant Agreement with the Department of Environmental <br />Protection, in an amount of up to Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00), of which a dollar -for -dollar <br />cash match is required, for the Central Island Area Drainage Improvements Project, provided said <br />Grant Agreement is first approved as to form and legal sufficiency by the City Attorney. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Accept Grant Award. The City Commission hereby accepts the award of grant funds <br />in an amount of up to Two Million Dollars, ($2,000,000.00) from the Department of Environmental <br />Protection for the Central Island Drainage Improvements Project. <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager is hereby <br />authorized to enter into a Grant Agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental <br />Protection, provided said Grant Agreement is first approved as to form and legal sufficiency by the <br />City Attorney, accept grant funds, expend grant funds, distribute grant monies, and do all things <br />necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. <br />Section 3.
