RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING A GRANT AGREEMENT (LPA0391) WITH THE STATE OF <br />FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, IN AN AMOUNT <br />NOT TO EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($400,000.00), FOR THE <br />CENTRAL ISLAND STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID GRANT AGREEMENT, ATTACHED HERETO AS <br />EXHIBIT "A", AND TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br />RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") comprises a land area of less than two <br />(2) square miles located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway and is <br />situated on a barrier island with an average elevation of six (6) feet above mean sea level and is <br />therefore particularly vulnerable to flooding; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's current stormwater drainage system, which services the area from <br />174th Street and 183rd Street, between North Bay Road and Atlantic Avenue ("Central Island"), <br />is in need of replacement or rehabilitation; and <br />WHEREAS, the City is currently in the planning stages of a water pump station and <br />drainage improvement project for the Central Island area ("Project"); and <br />WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection ("FDEP") has <br />grant funds available to the City for the Project, in the amount of $400,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve a Grant Agreement (LPA0391) with <br />FDEP to partially fund the Project, in the amount of $400,000.00, attached hereto as Exhibit <br />„A„ <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of Grant Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves a Grant <br />Agreement (LPA0391) with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection to <br />partially fund the Central Island Area Pump Station and Drainage Improvements, in the amount <br />of Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400,000.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />execute said Grant Agreement, and to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this <br />Resolution. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
