Staff is recommending approval of this Resolution. REASONS: This Resolution sets.the schedule of Regular City Commission meetings for calendar year 2024. Pursuant to Chapter 74 of the City's Code, meetings are generally held at 6:30 p.m. on the thirc Thursday of each month, with the exception of the recess month. Historically, the City Commission has recessed during the month of August of each year. In 2023, the City Commission voted and approved to change the recess month to December, a change that is proposed to continue in 2024. Additionally, in previous years and whenever possible, the City has made efforts to avoid scheduling its meetings on days that fall on major religious holidays. In 2024, the first two (2) days of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot will be observed on October 16 & 17 (third Thursday of October). Out of respect anc consideration for the City's large Jewish population, its proposed that October's Regular Cit1 Commission Meeting be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This schedule is for the regular monthly meetings of the City Commission. City Commissior workshops, special and emergency meetings may be scheduled as needed at the request of the Mayor, City Manager, the City Attorney, the City Clerk, or a majority of the City Commission, provided appropriate notice is given pursuant to Florida Statutes and Chapter 74 of the City's Code.
