RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - _M .21 <br />- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING A STATE FUNDED GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE URBAN TRAIL PROJECT, <br />IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND <br />DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($225,000.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT AND TO DO <br />ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") recognizes the need for improved <br />multi -modal transportation options for its residents and visitors; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has identified the development of the Urban Trail project (the <br />"Trail") as a key initiative to provide a safe north -south connection that supports various modes <br />of transportation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Trail, being approximately 1,745 feet in length, is strategically located to <br />the west of Collins Avenue, State Road A1A, along the outer edge of the Golden Shores <br />residential neighborhood; and <br />WHEREAS, this Trail is designed to offer a safe and accessible route for pedestrians, <br />cyclists, and micro -mobility users, effectively connecting Heritage Park and Golden Shores Park <br />as well as various multi -family buildings in the north to the city center in the south; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has applied for a grant with the Florida Department of <br />Transportation ("FDOT") to partially fund the construction of the Trail; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve a State Funded Grant Agreement <br />with FDOT to partially fund improvements for the construction of the Trail, in an amount not to <br />exceed Two Hundred Twenty -Five Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($225,000.00), attached <br />hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of Grant Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves a State <br />Funded Grant Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation to partially fund <br />improvements for the construction Trail, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Twenty -Five <br />Thousand Dollars and No Cents ($225,000.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2. Authority to Enter into a State Funded Grant Agreement.
