RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH REDSPEED FLORIDA LLC FOR THE <br />INSTALLATION OF RED LIGHT CAMERAS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED <br />EIGHT HUNDRED EIGHTY-NINE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS AND NO <br />CENTS ($889,200.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (the "City") desires to enhance road safety and <br />traffic management by installing red-light cameras ("Program") at various intersections <br />throughout the City; and <br />WHEREAS, red-light cameras are proven to alter bad driver habits such as speeding and <br />running red -lights; and <br />WHEREAS, section 316.0083, F.S., expressly authorizes municipalities to use traffic <br />infraction detectors to enforce certain provisions of Chapter 316 of the Florida Statutes, subject <br />to certain requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, on July 15th, 2010, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2010-347, <br />providing for recorded image monitoring and enforcement of red light traffic control signals <br />consistent with the provisions of section 316.0083, F.S.; and <br />WHEREAS, RedSpeed Florida LLC (the "Vendor") has the exclusive knowledge, <br />possession, and ownership of equipment, licenses, and processes to manage the Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the Vendor was awarded a contract in response to their submission to the <br />City of Sarasota's Request for Proposal No. 17-29DD for Red Light Enforcement; and <br />WHEREAS, the Vendor has expressed their desire an ability to provide the City with the <br />same pricing and terms and conditions offered to the City of Sarasota, Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 62 of the City's Code of Ordinances, purchases made <br />under state, county or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other entities <br />are exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission now wishes to approve an Agreement with the Vendor <br />to provide the equipment, licenses, and processes related to the Program, in an amount not to <br />exceed Eight Hundred Eighty -Nine Thousand Two Hundred Dollars and No Cents ($889,200.00), <br />attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />@BCL@B40A5617.doc Page 1 of 2 74 <br />
