5tF City of Sunny Isles Beach
+' 18070 Collins Avenue
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160
cfr" of 51 (305) 947-0606 City Hall
(305) 949-3113 Fax
MEMORANDUM
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners
VIA: Stan Morris, City Manager
FROM: Gayle Vasile, Cultural and Community Services Director
DATE: February 15, 2024
RE: Purchase of City Vehicle for Cultural and Community Services
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
Pursuant to § 62-13 of the city's Purchasing Code, Purchases are made under state general service
administration contracts, federal, county, or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with
other governmental agencies. Based on the city's Purchasing Code § 62-13. the city wishes to
piggyback the City of Tallahassee's agreement No. 5179-2024 with Alan Jay Fleet, to purchase two (2)
2024 FORD F-150 REGULAR CAB 4WD XL 8' BED 141".
Each budgeted vehicle is $44,849.00; therefore, the grand not to exceed total is $89,698.00. The ETA is
within four to six months. Based on Alan Jay Fleet, "Ford is looking at lead times of four to six month!
once placing a factory order".
These vehicles will be added into the parks fleet and be used by the additional budgeted positions that
were added this budget year. The park employees use pick up trucks to travel between parks and
facilities. Each truck is equipped with maintenance tools and supplies that are used daily in the parks.
Additionally they often tow pressure washers, trailers, and event supplies throughout the city to other
locations.
We are recommending two (2) pick-up trucks over gators because the gators are not equipped with all
the tools needed to maintain the parks. Since the parks employee use this as a method of
transportation between parks the open air gator can not be used in all weather conditions as trucks
can handle windy and rainy Florida days.
Item Number: 10.E
126
