RESOLUTION NO. 2024- 3(076 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A <br />MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND THE <br />CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE MIAMI POLICE AUTO <br />CRIMES TASKFORCE, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br />RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Isles Beach (the "City") recognizes the importance of proactive and <br />collaborative law enforcement efforts to combat auto theft related crimes ("Crimes") that affect <br />South Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Mutual Aid Act (Chapter 23, Florida Statutes) grants law <br />enforcement agencies throughout the State of Florida the authority to enter into mutual aid <br />agreements in order to ensure preparedness to adequately address any and all conditions that <br />affect public peace and safety, and to preserve the lives and property of the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Police Department seeks to enter into a Mutual Aid Agreement with <br />the City of Miami, FL ("Miami") to participate in the Miami Police Auto Crimes Taskforce <br />("MPACT") to enhance their capabilities to investigate, apprehend, and arrest individuals <br />involved in these Crimes across jurisdictional boundaries; and <br />WHEREAS, this Agreement will allow the participating law enforcement agencies to share <br />resources and provide mutual assistance without the constraints of jurisdictional limitations, <br />thereby promoting a more efficient and effective response to these Crimes; and <br />WHEREAS, the term of this Agreement is for a period of five (5) years; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the public's best interest to execute the <br />Mutual Aid Agreement for the City's participation in MPACT. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of Mutual Aid Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves a <br />Mutual Aid Agreement with the City of Miami, FL, Miami Police Auto Crimes Taskforce, attached <br />hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
