RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - S' <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROLACT OF 1984, TO EXPEND FORFEITURE FUNDS <br />FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ("DOJ") FEDERAL FORFEITURE ACCOUNT TO <br />PURCHASE TWO (2) VEHICLES, VEHICLE RELATED EQUIPMENT, TWO (2) LAPTOPS <br />WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT RELATED SOFTWARE, AND MENTAL HEALTH <br />PERFORMANCE COACHING SUBSCRIPTION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO <br />HUNDRED TEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED NINETY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND NO <br />CENTS ($210,297.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach ("City") and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds <br />from the established Department of Justice ("DOJ") federal forfeiture account, for approved <br />programs or purchases intended to enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida <br />Statutes §932.7055(5)(b), upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a <br />municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification <br />that the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request to expend DOJ forfeiture funds in <br />compliance with the aforementioned legal requirements to, purchase two (2) vehicles and related <br />equipment, two (2) laptops with law enforcement related software, and mental health <br />performance coaching subscription in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Ten Thousand Two <br />Hundred Ninety -Seven Dollars and No Cents ($210,297.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the certification, attached <br />hereto as Exhibit "A", the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend Two Hundred Ten <br />Thousand Two Hundred Ninety -Seven Dollars and No Cents ($210,297.00), from the established <br />Department of Justice federal forfeitures account to purchase two (2) vehicles and related <br />equipment, two (2) laptops with law enforcement related' software, and mental health <br />performance coaching subscription. <br />Section 2.
