7 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING <br />FEBRUARY 2026, AS BLACK HISTORY MONTH; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Black History Month is observed annually throughout the United States <br />during the month of February to recognize and honor the significant contributions, <br />achievements, and cultural heritage of Black Americans; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beah (the "City") values the rich diversity of its <br />residents and acknowledges the profound impact that Black Americans have had on the nation's <br />history, arts, sciences, public service, and civic life; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to formally commemorate Black History Month <br />2026 by issuing an official proclamation that celebrates these contributions and reaffirms the <br />City's commitment -to equity, inclusion, and the ongoing pursuit of justice; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed proclamation highlights the importance of honoring the past, <br />celebrating the present, and supporting a future in which all members of the community can <br />thrive; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that issuing this proclamation serves the public <br />interest and reflects the City's dedication to a welcoming and inclusive community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval Issuance of Proclamation. The City Commission hereby approves the <br />issuance of a proclamation recognizing February 2026, as Black History Month in the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach. <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
