I am writing to share that the Miami -Dade County Board of <br />County Commissioners voted unanimously to urge the administration of President Donald J. <br />Trump to suspend all Cuba related federal licenses and general authorizations pending full audits <br />by the Office of Foreign Assets Control and the Bureau of Industry and Security. <br />Miami -Dade County took this action because we have seen how certain federal authorizations <br />have been misused as commercial channels for the Cuban communist regime and its affiliated <br />networks. Our community knows this issue intimately. Many of our residents fled persecution, <br />political imprisonment, and the denial of basic freedoms. It is not consistent with our values to <br />allow federal licenses that can be exploited to strengthen a dictatorship that represses its own <br />people. <br />I respectfully invite you to join this call by publicly supporting the County's position or by <br />communicating directly with federal authorities. A unified voice from our municipalities would <br />send a clear message that Miami -Dade County stands for freedom and does not support <br />commercial activity that benefits a hostile and oppressive regime. <br />Thank you for your leadership, for your service to your residents, and for considering this <br />request.
