RESOLUTION NO. 2026 -S1 co)(O' <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR FLORIDA HOUSE BILL 217 <br />AND FLORIDA SENATE BILL 218, RELATING TO LAND USE REGULATIONS <br />IN AREAS AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK <br />TO TRANSMIT COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS <br />OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Florida House Bill 217 and Florida Senate Bill 218 (collectively, the <br />"Proposed Legislation") provide clarity and consistency for land use regulations in <br />communities impacted by declared natural disasters; and <br />WHEREAS, the Proposed Legislation facilitates timely recovery and <br />redevelopment while protecting private property rights; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission supports policies that promote efficient and <br />resilient disaster recovery efforts; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interests of its residents <br />to support the Proposed Legislation. , <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Express Support. The City Commission hereby expresses its support for <br />the Proposed Legislation. <br />Section 2. Direction to the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to distribute <br />copies of this Resolution to the Florida League of Cities, the President of the Florida <br />Senate, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, and the Governor of the <br />State of Florida. <br />Section 3. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized <br />to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. <br />Section 4. Effective Date.
