neighborhood. During this design phase, two test wells were installed and data was collected to ensure
the viability of this solution. The capacity to accept flood waters into the deep well deteriorated within
the first year. The results of this process have proven out that, although injection wells will help with
some flooding relief, it is not a viable long-term solution. The anticipated lifespan of this solution is
approximately 4-5 years before wells will need to be redrilled.
At this time, it is the recommendation that the City plan accordingly and pursue the long-term solution
of two pump stations. To revive this project, manage permitting and assist through the bid and contract
award process, Craig A. Smith (CAS) has provided a proposal in the amount not -to- exceed of
$73,565.00 and a one year term extension, bringing the total contract total to $844,980.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no. 300-5-5410-465000-83003.
A complete copy of the contract file, including all exhibits and attachments, is on file with the Office of
the City Clerk and is available upon request.
ATTACHMENTS:
Resolution
Sixth Amendment - Craig A. Smith
Item Number: 9.1
385
