Visual Experience Concepts
Winter by the Waves
South Florida Lighting Team, LLC DBA Miami Christmas Lights.
33

Visual Experience Concepts
Winter by the Waves
“Winter by the Waves” was intentionally designed as a holiday experience unique to the City of Sunny Isles Beach,
inspired by the City’s oceanfront identity, modern skyline, luxury coastal atmosphere, and vibrant public spaces. Rather
than applying a traditional holiday aesthetic commonly repeated throughout Florida, this concept combines flowing
wave-inspired forms, layered illumination, cool blue tones, warm white lighting, and refined winter elements to create a
sophisticated seasonal environment reflective of Sunny Isles Beach’s distinctive character.
The overall design emphasizes visual continuity throughout gateways, monument signage, roadway corridors,
medians, pedestrian spaces, and gathering areas to create an immersive destination-quality holiday experience
throughout the City. Sculptural lighting features, custom pole décor, contemporary snowflake elements, and interactive
photo opportunities were strategically selected to encourage community engagement while reinforcing the City’s
upscale coastal identity.
A major focus of the concept was maximizing decorative coverage and public impact while maintaining a highly
curated and visually cohesive presentation. Many of the proposed décor elements and streetscape features were
specifically selected or developed for this concept and are not standard catalog items commonly found in neighboring
municipalities. The result is a family-oriented, visually distinctive, and highly memorable holiday experience designed to
feel authentic to Sunny Isles Beach and unlike any other municipal holiday program currently operating within the State
of Florida.
