<br />WHEREAS, on July 4, 2026, the United States ofAmerica will commemorate the 250th anniversary ofthe adoption
<br />ofthe Declaration oflndependence, marking a historic milestone in our Nation's ongoingjourney ofliberty,
<br />democracy, and self-government; and
<br />WHEREAS, local governments are the bedrock of American democracy, providing residents with the most
<br />accountable, responsive, inclusive, ethical, and transparentform ofgovernment; and
<br />WHEREAS, from the Nation's smallest villages to its largest cities, America's local governments have been
<br />essential in transforming the United States of America into one of the most influential nations in world
<br />history; and
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, first incorporated in 1997, is proudly served today by its Mayor and City
<br />Commission, City Administration, and a dedicated municipal workforce committed to serving residents,
<br />businesses, and visitors with professionalism, transparency, and care; and
<br />WHEREAS, this Semiquincentennial anniversary provides an opportunity for Americans to reflect upon the
<br />courage, vision, and sacrifice of those who helped establish our Nation, as well as the generations of
<br />citizens, service members, public servants, educators, workers, families, and community leaders who have
<br />helped strengthen and preserve it; and
<br />WHEREAS, for 250 years, the United States has continued to strive toward the founding ideals expressed in the
<br />Declaration oflndependence, including equality, freedom, justice, and the beliefthat government derives its
<br />authority from the consent of the governed; and
<br />WHEREAS, the United States 250th Anniversary is not only a celebration of our Nation's history, but also an
<br />opportunity to educate, preserve, and innovate during this milestone anniversary; and
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach joins communities throughout Florida and across the United States in
<br />recognizing this significant anniversary and honoring the diverse people, cultures, and contributions that
<br />have shaped the American story; and
<br />WHEREAS, as we commemorate this milestone, we also look toward the future with hope and determination,
<br />reaffirming our shared commitment to civic engagement, unity, service, constitutional self-government, and
<br />the enduringpromise of the United States ofAmerica.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, DO I, Larisa Svechin, as Mayor, and on behalf of the City Commission ofthe City of Sunny Isles
<br />Beach, Florida, hereby proclaim the July 4, 2026, as "United States Semiquincentennial Day "in the City
<br />of Sunny Isles Beach.
