REASONS The purpose of Chapter 183 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny Isles Beach is to provide certain minimum requirements in all matters relating to the issuance, revocation, and suspension of permits. Permits are required to show compliance with regulations under the Florida Building Code, the City Code, as well as to promote the health, safety and general welfare of City residents and visitors alike. The City wishes to adopt this amendatory Ordinance to confirm that permits are required to construct, enlarge, alter or repair any building, or structure. Additionally, the City wishes to confirm that permits are required to 1) use, clear, fill, excavate, move, pave, grade or otherwise alter land, water or beach sand, 2) close a lane of traffic, or 3) perform work in a public right of way or public easement area. Any permit issued pursuant to this amendatory Ordinance shall be valid for a period of One Hundred Eighty (180) days from the date of issuance by the City, unless a different expiration date is otherwise provided by the City Code or Florida Building Code for a specific permit or development order, or as otherwise indicated by the City Commission at a public hearing. This Ordinance was requested by the Office of the City Manager.
