South Florida Fire Prevention Code 1992-93 (adopted by the County Commission) <br />defines standards for fire prevention and allows controlled burns as mitigation. <br />County <br />1. Board of County Commission Resolutions <br />a. R-572-00, which establishes the Miami -Dade Local Mitigation Strategy as official <br />county policy. <br />b. R-710-05, which authorizes the County Manager to apply for, receive, expend and <br />amend applications for projects listed in the Miami -Dade Local Mitigation Strategy. <br />c. R-451-14, which requires all County infrastructure projects to consider potential <br />impacts of sea level rise during all project phases. <br />2. Pertinent Miami -Dade County laws include codes and ordinances that govern the un- <br />incorporated and municipal activities, as follows: <br />a. Chapter 8(b) of the county code, which deals with emergency management. <br />b. Chapter 11(c), covering Development within Flood Hazard Districts. <br />c. Chapter 17, i.e. the Housing Code, focused on maintaining the housing stock in <br />decent safe and sanitary conditions. <br />d. Chapter 18b covering right-of-way landscaping. <br />e. Chapter 24 covering the activities of the Miami -Dade Division Environmental Re- <br />sources Management (DERM) for permitting hazardous materials. <br />f. Chapter 28 of the county code which deals with subdivision regulations. <br />g. Chapter 33, covering zoning activities for approval of a development of regional <br />impact. <br />h. Floodplain Management Program sets the criteria for elevations and assesses the <br />risks for flooding for different areas of the County. <br />i. Miami -Dade County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) man- <br />dates that municipalities have emergency management plans, as well as recom- <br />mends the performance of hazard mitigation activities. <br />j. Miami -Dade County Comprehensive Land Use Plan dictates current land use and <br />controls future land use and growth throughout the county. <br />P1-18 <br />
