With the opening
and activation of surrounding properties, more parking is needed in this area. As such, the City
approached FDOT to rent additional State land under the eastbound lanes of Sunny Isles Bvld. In an
effortto accomplish this, FDOT determined it was in the best interest of both parties to enter into a new
agreement for the land that would be utilized as public parking, naming it Parcel Number 3129, and
amend the agreement for Parcel Number 7756 to allow for only open space, with no commercial use.
This new agreement for Parcel Number 3129 will include both parking areas and will require the City to
remit 40% of parking revenues to the State. These are the same terms as other State owned parcels
being utilized for parking at the William Lehman Causeway.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This lease term begins on the effective date and expires on March 31, 2029. This agreement is required
for the City to continue to operate the Bella Vista Bay Public Parking lot as it currently exists. This
agreement also gives us the opportunity to develop additional public parking in the adjacent under
ramp area to the east if the City Commission so desires. Exhibit B depicts the possible future
development of additional parking if and when the City Commission approves to do so.
Item Number: 9.13
49
