RESOLUTION NO. 2026 - "Q <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO SECTION 5.1 OF THE MUNICIPAL CHARTER, CALLING <br />FOR A GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2026, FOR <br />THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH THE NAMES OF ALL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR ELECTION TO THE <br />POSITIONS OF MAYOR, CITY COMMISSIONER SEAT 02 (NORTHERN AREA) AND <br />CITY COMMISSIONER SEAT 04 (SOUTHERN AREA); PROVIDING FOR A RUN-OFF <br />ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2026; <br />DESIGNATING ONE REGISTERED VOTER WHO SHALL SERVE WITH THE CITY <br />MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK AS THE CANVASSING BOARD FOR SAID RUN- <br />OFF ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR CONDUCTING THE ELECTIONS, POLLING <br />PLACES, FORM OF BALLOT, VOTER REGISTRATION, NOTICE OF ELECTIONS; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, Section 5.1 of the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, <br />provides that a general election shall be held in even -numbered years in November, a run- <br />off election, if necessary, shall be held in December, and in conjunction with elections held <br />by Miami -Dade County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Miami -Dade County Supervisor of Elections and her staff of officials shall <br />serve as Canvassing Board for the November 3, 2026, General Election; and <br />WHEREAS, if a Run -Off Election is needed on December 1, 2026, the City Commission <br />designates a registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Run -Off Election. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Calling a General Election. In accordance with the Municipal Charter of the <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and the general laws of the State of Florida, a General <br />Election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, <br />from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for the purpose of submitting <br />to the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the positions of <br />Mayor, City Commissioner Seat 02 (Northern Area) and City Commissioner Seat 04 <br />(Southern Area). <br />Section 2. Designation of One Registered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing Board. The <br />City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby designates <br />as the registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Run -Off Election, if needed, on December 1, <br />2026. <br />@BCL@7C17343A Page 1 of 4 627 <br />
