RESOLUTION NO.2026 - <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE URBAN QUALIFICATION <br />COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND <br />MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT, HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS, AND <br />EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT PROGRAMS FOR FISCAL YEARS 2027-2029; <br />PROVIDING FOR ONE SUCCESSIVE THREE-YEAR RENEWAL FOR FISCAL YEARS <br />2030-2032 AT THE DISCRETION OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY; AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE FIRST AMENDMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on August 171h, 2023, via Resolution No. 2023-3543, the City Commission of <br />the City of Sunny Isles beach (the "City") approved an Urban Qualification Cooperation <br />Agreement (the "Agreement") with Miami -Dade County (the "County") for the City's <br />participation in the County's Urban County entitlement jurisdiction for fiscal years 2024-2026; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, participation in the County's Urban County entitlement jurisdiction provides <br />the City with opportunities to apply through the County for funding under the Community <br />Development Block Grant ("CDBG"), Home Investment Partnerships ("HOME"), and Emergency <br />Solutions Grant ("ESG") programs administered by the United States Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development; and <br />WHEREAS, the City and County desire to execute a First Amendment to the Agreement <br />to continue the City's participation for fiscal years 2027-2029 and to update the Agreement in <br />accordance with current federal requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, the First Amendment provides for one successive three-year renewal for <br />fiscal years 2030-2032 at the discretion of the County, unless either party provides written <br />notice electing not to participate in the subsequent qualification period; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve the First Amendment to the <br />Agreement with the County, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of the First Amendment. The City Commission hereby approves First <br />Amendment to the Agreement with the County, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />Section 2.
